Take a lead in supporting people experiencing diverse barriers to employment to better access positive pathways into work and education
The Ipswich Pathways to Employment program focuses on reducing offending, victimisation and community harm by improving access to training and employment pathways for people at risk of offending across Ipswich. The initiative adopts a co-ordinated, person-centred approach that combines early identification, referrals, transition planning and employment support to improve community reintegration, increase workforce participation and reduce re-offending.
The role aims to strengthen access to training, employment pathways and practical support for people who are at risk of offending, who have offended, or who are returning to the community after custody (the target cohort).
This cohort may consist of those that may be justice involved, disengaged from education, survivors of domestic and family violence, culturally or generationally disconnected from mainstream services, or experiencing literacy, numeracy or other employment barriers.
- Part time position pro-rata: 5 hours a day on Tuesday , Wednesday & Thursday (15 hours per week)
- Fixed term contract till: 30th June 2027
✅Key responsibilities
- Case manage participants from the referral stage through to successful outcome, including a three month post program support phase.
- Discuss, identify and facilitate the best employment and/or training pathway for clients which could include direct employment, training, Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs,
employment preparation such as resume preparation, interview skills, industry exposure, support to obtain personal identification and other methods to set the individual on a positive pathway to employment and/or training.
- Actively engage with relevant support agencies to ensure clients can be supported by the widest range of employment preparation supports as possible, including Workforce Australia providers.
- Liaise closely with referring agencies to ensure a smooth transition for clients occurs through the referral stage.
- Representation at various stakeholder meetings and events on behalf of the Department of Trade, Employment and Training.
- Capture and write good news stories on successful client outcomes for promotion through the Department of Trade, Employment and Training.
- Regular reporting to the Department of Trade, Employment and Training on participant referrals, support services and outcomes.
- Collaborate with other Employment Co-ordinators across the State who are also supporting the Pathways to Employment and Training program.
- In consultation with the Department of Trade, Employment and Training,
effectively administer and acquit discretionary funding provided to support clients through a successful pathway to employment and/or training.
- Collaborate with Queensland Corrective Services Career Advisers to increase employment outcomes.
- Maintain full confidentiality of client details and circumstances.
✅Key Capabilities
- Knowledge, experience and/or exposure to the client group and an understanding of success factors in transitions to employment for this cohort.
- Knowledge of the various employment and/or training supports, agencies, services etc. available in the Ipswich area.
- Individual case management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and co-ordinate support services quickly to support clients.
- Negotiation skills to facilitate funding contributions from Workforce Australia providers and facilitate appropriate training and employment outcomes for clients.
