About the opportunity

The University of Tasmania is seeking an experienced nursing academic to join the School of Nursing as a Senior Lecturer in Nursing.

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in shaping contemporary nursing education, contributing to the quality and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programs while supporting positive outcomes for students, colleagues and the nursing profession. As Senior Lecturer, you will provide academic leadership across learning and teaching, lead and contribute to curriculum design and review, support quality and accreditation activities, and champion evidence-informed and innovative approaches to nursing education. You will also play an important role in mentoring and developing academic colleagues and supporting high-quality, consistent teaching across the School.

Drawing on your contemporary nursing expertise and higher education experience, you will build strong relationships across the University and with health services, the profession and community, helping ensure our programs remain relevant, responsive and connected to contemporary practice. Depending on the successful candidate's experience and workload profile, the role may also include research and scholarship aligned with School and University priorities.

What you’ll do:

- Provide academic leadership in the delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education.
- Lead and contribute to curriculum design, development and review, assessment quality and academic quality assurance.
- Drive innovative, evidence-informed approaches to learning and teaching that enhance student engagement, success and the student experience.
- Lead teaching teams and mentor and support the development of early-career academics and teaching colleagues.
- Build productive partnerships with health services, skilled colleagues, industry and the wider community.
- Contribute to research and/or scholarly activity appropriate to the successful candidate's workload profile and Academic Level C expectations.­

What we’re looking for:

- Current registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with no conditions.
- A PhD qualification (or working towards) in nursing or a closely related health field. For a teaching-intensive appointment, substantial relevant skilled and scholarly achievement may be considered in accordance with University requirements.
- Demonstrated achievement and leadership in university-level learning and teaching, including course coordination, curriculum development and contemporary teaching practice.
- Significant and recent nursing practice experience, with the ability to translate contemporary clinical knowledge into engaging and relevant learning experiences.
- A track record of innovation in learning, teaching and curriculum.




- Strong leadership and organisational capability, including experience developing others and leading collaborative teaching activity.
- The ability to build effective partnerships across the profession, health sector and wider community.
- For a balanced academic appointment, an established record of research and scholarship appropriate to Academic Level C.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,076 comprising base salary within the range of $138,536 to $157,330 plus 17% superannuation. Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 is available for the successful candidate.
