Are you passionate about volunteering, community participation and creating positive experiences for people? The City of Boroondara is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Volunteer Engagement Officer to support and grow volunteering across our municipality.

In this rewarding role, you'll be the first point of contact for current and prospective volunteers, helping people find meaningful opportunities to contribute while supporting the work of the Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC).

About the role

Reporting to the Volunteer Support and Development Lead, you will:

Respond to enquiries from volunteers, community organisations and Council staff, delivering exceptional customer service.

Support volunteer recruitment, referrals and engagement activities.

Maintain volunteer opportunities and records across volunteer databases and systems.

Assist Council volunteer managers with volunteer administration, including Working with Children Checks and police checks.

Create and coordinate communications including volunteer bulletins, social media content and promotional activities.

Support community events, volunteer recognition initiatives, expos and workshops.





Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance volunteer services and community participation.

About you

We're looking for someone who is organised, approachable and passionate about community engagement. You will bring:

Experience in administration and customer service.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including content creation and copywriting.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, databases and online platforms.

Experience working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

An understanding of the volunteer and not-for-profit sector.

A positive, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to quality customer service.
