Full Job Description

Take the next step in your nursing leadership career with a well-established private hospital on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. This is a senior management opportunity combining clinical leadership and operational management across rehabilitation and surgical services.

Reporting to the Hospital Director, you will oversee the hospital’s rehabilitation and surgical wing, providing strong clinical and operational leadership while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred care.

This is a diverse role requiring someone who can confidently lead nursing teams, manage staffing and workforce requirements, oversee bed occupancy and build strong relationships with external partners and surrounding hospitals.

You will be supported by an experienced leadership and clinical team, including a Rehabilitation Coordinator, Educator and Discharge Planner.

- Salary range: $150,000–$160,000
- Permanent full-time senior leadership opportunity
- Predominantly Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
- Earliest starts typically around 7:00am for clinical handover

Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership across Rehabilitation and Surgical Wards
- Lead, support and develop a workforce of approximately 70 staff
- Oversee staffing, rostering and workforce utilisation, ensuring labour hours remain aligned with operational requirements and budgets
- Maintain exceptional standards of patient care, clinical governance and NSQHS compliance
- Manage patient flow, bed utilisation and occupancy across the service




- Develop and maintain strong referral relationships with surrounding hospitals and healthcare providers, particularly across Sydney’s Lower North Shore and surrounding areas
- Work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, exercise physiologists, dietitians and other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Review and improve models of care and clinical pathways
- Partner with senior management to drive operational and strategic improvements
- Support continuous education, staff development and quality improvement initiatives

About You

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years’ postgraduate nursing experience
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and people-management experience
- Strong staffing, rostering and workforce-management capability
- Experience developing and supporting effective nursing teams
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- An understanding of rehabilitation services and patient pathways
- The ability to engage effectively with referral sources and surrounding hospitals
- A practical leadership style with a strong focus on outcomes and team culture
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Experience in post-operative/surgical nursing and an understanding of private hospital operations and funding models will be highly regarded.

Highly Desirable

- Postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Rehabilitation
- Management qualifications or current study towards a relevant degree
- Approximately 3+ years of nursing management experience
