Are you a strategic communicator who thrives on turning complex technical information into clear, engaging content? We're looking for an experienced communications professional to join our team and help deliver high-impact communications that support the safety and health of Queensland's resources sector.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, you will provide strategic communication advice and services across Resources Safety and Health Queensland, supporting diverse industries including coal, mineral mines, quarries, petroleum, gas, and explosives.
As a trusted advisor, you will partner with senior stakeholders across the organisation, manage a portfolio of business unit clients, and contribute to high-profile projects that influence the resources industry. This role has a strong focus on external communications, including the development and delivery of communication plans, stakeholder engagement initiatives and electronic direct mail (EDM) campaigns.
What you'll be doing
- Provide strategic communication advice to business units and project teams across RSHQ.
- Develop, implement and evaluate communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for complex and high-profile initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including inspectors, occupational hygienists, project managers, senior leaders and technical experts.
- Create a broad range of communication materials, including regulatory reports, safety alerts, briefings, newsletters, EDMs, web content, fact sheets, social media content and media responses.
- Coordinate communication activities across multiple projects, identifying opportunities to promote key initiatives and proactively manage communication risks.
- Translate complex legislative, regulatory and technical information into transparent, accessible content for a range of audiences.
- Work collaboratively across communication, media, creative and operational teams to deliver integrated communication outcomes.

- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering strategic communication plans and campaigns.
- Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience translating complex or technical information into engaging content for external audiences.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines.
- Sound judgement and the ability to identify and mitigate communication and reputational risks.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to fostering a positive team culture.
