We are seeking motivated, service-driven Digital Forensics Officers to join our Digital Forensics team in the Cyber Operations, Program and Strategy branch.

As a Digital Forensics Officer, you’ll support digital forensic investigations by acquiring, preserving, analysing and documenting digital evidence in accordance with established forensic practices, legislative requirements and evidentiary standards.

You will undertake research, analysis and reporting, provide technical support to investigations and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. You may also contribute to eDiscovery activities, including data ingestion, processing and workflow improvement.

We will support you to build your professional capability through formal training, certification opportunities and exposure to contemporary digital forensic technologies and investigative practices.

These roles have exposure to highly sensitive, confidential and, at times, explicit material. You will be required to attend field work at different locations across the country to assist in ATO investigations. This will require you to travel interstate, work overtime and can include overnight stay when travelling. In addition, you will be required to work outside of the ordinary hours of duty on an ad hoc basis and attend an annual mandatory counselling session.

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Brisbane CBD or Melbourne CBD.

We embrace the strength of diversity – through our people and the perspectives they bring.

We are committed to inclusive recruitment practices and encourage applications from people with disability or neurodivergence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,

and individuals from all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments can be provided throughout the selection process.

- demonstrates experience in digital forensics, with knowledge of digital forensic tools and contemporary technology environments including operating systems, cloud, networking concepts and eDiscovery tools
- acquires, preserves and analyses digital evidence using established forensic practices and evidentiary requirements
- displays solid analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to work professionally with sensitive, confidential or explicit material
- communicates technical information clearly and tailor’s messages to technical and non-technical audiences
- builds productive working relationships, supports change and contributes positively to team outcomes.

Relevant qualifications or certifications in digital forensics, or training in tools such as Cellebrite, Magnet AXIOM, X-Ways Forensics, XRY, Forensic Explorer or macOS forensic platforms, will be highly regarded but not essential.
