Our OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a team orientated, customer focused and experienced Financial Controller to join our dedicated Rural Aid national support team (based in Indooroopilly).

We believe this vacancy presents a rare opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Aussie Farmers via the demonstration of leadership in financial practice and the continual evolution of our financial control processes,



including (potentially) embracing automation and AI technologies to enhance productivity, looking ahead.

Under the direction of the CFO this senior position is responsible for the maintenance of robust financial controls, specifically relating to month-end reporting, budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, statutory accounting and management accounting. The role engages broadly across our organisation, supporting our teams responsible for both fundraising and service delivery.

Our finance team also contributes to reporting on our 'Impact' in pursuit of our Vision, and the various farmer and regionally focused activities we engage in.

The successful candidate will be technically proficient and up to date with developments in accounting standards, GST, payroll requirements and corporate fundraising programs. Our Financial Controller is also required to regularly collaborate with colleagues on planning, donation management, budgeting and service-delivery; thereby sharing their expertise with staff and specialised teams.

In addition to supporting and informing our program and field-based teams across Australia, this key role will perform a range of general accounting duties, especially maintaining the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions.

About YOU

Importantly, you like the sound of the opportunity described above and feel passionate about supporting Australian Primary Producers and the Agriculture sector. You want to support the invaluable assistance our organisation offers to Farmers across the country ('Our Mates in the Bush') to keep up the great work providing food and fibre to all Australians;

You will already hold 5years + experience in a similar role and (ideally) in a similar NFP / Charity environment undertaking key financial responsibilities with a clearly articulated 'For-Purpose' focus.





Demonstrate a strong understanding of the importance of customer & client service principles including ownership, initiative and accountability.

Possess some relevant experience (and interest) in Social Impact measurement and/or stakeholder reporting in such areas as Social Impact Investment, Sustainability or Regional development.

Hold demonstrated experience partnering with managers across an organisation to provide financial guidance, build financial capability and support organisational planning, performance and strategic objectives.

You will already possess high level computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (such as Word, Excel, and Outlook), Accounting software ('Xero') , finance system implementation, and also (ideally) relevant knowledge of CRM software for managing client records and tracking client interactions;

Relevant experience supporting modern fundraising / giving platforms (‘Raisley’) and also Corporate partnership programs, including tracking and monitoring the responsible use of donor funds; plus,

A willingness to engage with our stakeholders (both Supporters and Farmers alike), plus support our teams and tackle new & diverse responsibilities when they arise, will be essential.
