On October 1, 2026, surcharging on Visa, Mastercard and eftpos ends across Australia. Hundreds of thousands of merchants are about to absorb card fees they used to pass on — and most have no idea what they actually pay.

We're hiring a Sales Executive to be the person who shows them.

Who we are

Paymath helps businesses stop overpaying for card processing. In North America, we've spent years working alongside processors to cut payment costs for merchants of every size — from single-location cafés to national retailers.

Paymath Australia is our newest chapter. Paymath brings online and e-commerce payments expertise with deep experience putting POS and payment terminals on counters. We offer Australian merchants something the market rarely sees — transparent Interchange++ pricing or competitive blended pricing, backed by tier-one processors and modern hardware.

The role

This is a hunter role. You'll find merchants, open conversations, run the numbers on their statements, and board them onto Paymath — from first call to first transaction.

You won't be handed a territory with a decade of history. You'll be building one. That means cold calls and walk-ins with cafés, restaurants and retailers, LinkedIn outreach to e-commerce and mid-market brands, and working leads from our POS software partners and industry associations (if applicable).

You'll report to leadership, sit alongside our founding sales team, and have a real say in how we sell in Australia.

What you'll own

- New business: Prospect and close small and mid-sized merchants across hospitality, retail and e-commerce — by phone, in person and online.
- You will thrive through in-person sales, knocking at doors and engaging with 25 to 30 merchants per day.
- Statement reviews: Break down a merchant's current processing costs and show them, line by line, what they'd save.
- The full sale:



Run discovery, build the proposal, handle objections, and close — no hand-offs to a separate closer.
- Boarding: Guide merchants through applications, KYC and setup with our processing partners so they're live and transacting quickly.
- Partner leads: Work referrals from our POS software and industry-association partners, and turn warm introductions into signed merchants.
- Pipeline discipline: Keep HubSpot accurate and current — every lead, call, quote and deal — so forecasts mean something.
- Market feedback: Tell us what you're hearing: which competitors come up, which objections stick, which segments convert. You'll help shape our playbook, pricing and messaging.

Who you are

You have 2+ years in a quota-carrying B2B sales role mostly through door-to-door — ideally selling to small businesses, where you've had to earn every meeting.

You:

- Like picking up the phone and walking through a door uninvited
- Can read a merchant statement (or are keen to learn fast) and explain it in plain English
- Are comfortable with numbers — margins, rates and savings don't scare you
- Handle "we're happy with our current provider" without flinching
- Keep a clean pipeline and follow up without being chased
