Role Description:

The Data Scientist is an exciting opportunity in our Customer Marketing team based at our Perth Central Park office. Reporting to the Predictive Analytics & Optimisation Lead, the role supports the development of forecasting, analytics and optimisation solutions that enhance customer outcomes and support the effective integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Using large and complex datasets, the successful candidate will apply advanced statistical techniques, machine learning and predictive modelling to solve business challenges and inform strategic decision-making, with a strong focus on customer and retail outcomes.

Working closely with stakeholders across Customer, Future Energy, and Technology & Business Services, the Data Scientist will develop analytical products, tools and insights that drive business value. The role will analyse customer, market and operational data, identify opportunities to improve products and services, and support the development of pricing, forecasting and market models.

This opportunity is suited to a curious and commercially minded data professional who enjoys turning complex data into practical solutions. As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, the successful candidate will work independently,



ask insightful questions and look beyond the immediate task to understand the broader business context and impact of their analysis. They will help shape recent analytical capabilities, influence business outcomes and contribute to supporting the future of energy in Western Australia.

Job responsibilities:

- Develop predictive, prescriptive and machine learning models to solve complex business challenges and support customer and market outcomes.
- Analyse customer, market and operational data to generate insights and recommendations that drive commercial performance and informed decision-making.
- Support the development and enhancement of forecasting, pricing and market models to optimise product performance and customer value.
- Design and deliver analytical tools, products and solutions that improve business capability, efficiency and access to data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Customer, Future Energy, and Technology & Business Services to identify opportunities, influence outcomes and support strategic initiatives.

What you will bring:

- Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
- Experience applying SQL and Python to develop predictive models, machine learning solutions and data-driven insights. Experience with R will be highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets to solve business challenges.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical business outcomes.
- A curious, commercially minded and self-driven approach, with the ability to work independently, challenge assumptions, ask thoughtful questions and deliver value through data and analytics.
