About The Role
As a Network Control Standards & Training Officer, you will play a pivotal role within the Public Transport Authority's (PTA) Network Control Centre, leading the delivery, assessment and continuous improvement of training programs for Network Controllers and accredited Network Control personnel. Working collaboratively with the PTA's RTO Quality & Compliance team, you will ensure all training, assessment and competency management activities meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. This includes developing and reviewing training materials, maintaining competency records, validating course documentation, and creating structured learning experiences that support operational excellence across the rail network.
In addition to your training and standards responsibilities, you will remain an active and qualified Network Control Officer, responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of rail traffic and network occupations across the PTA rail network. Through mentoring, coaching and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, you will support the development of operational staff while maintaining a high level of expertise in rail operations, learning and development practices, and industry trends. This unique role combines frontline operational responsibility with leadership in training and capability development, ensuring the Network Control Centre continues to deliver safe and reliable services for the travelling public.
About You
To be successful in this role you will: -
- Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent qualification (or the ability to obtain this within an agreed timeframe), together with a current Certificate IV in Rail Network Control or equivalent rail industry qualification.
- Significant experience in high frequency urban passenger rail operations, with a strong working knowledge of rail network rules, procedures and Safeworking principles demonstrating applied experience in the Perth Urban Network
- Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of adult learning programs, including competency-based training, assessment and compliance with RTO standards.
- Proven leadership capability, with the ability to monitor and manage operational activities, lead through incidents and emergencies, and drive positive cultural change in rail safety, competence and operational performance.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex information, make sound decisions under pressure, and provide clear advice,
instruction and guidance to diverse audiences.
- Be able to work unsocial hours as this is an operational role, required to work hours as required 24/7.

There are two (2) Permanent opportunities.
