As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a critical role in the assembly, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of GRAF wastewater treatment systems, pump stations, trade waste treatment systems, grease arrestors, oil-water separators, light fluid separators and septic systems.

The role is responsible for supporting both workshop and field operations by ensuring products are assembled to specification, installed correctly, commissioned safely and maintained to a high standard. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

- Assemble GRAF wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, septic systems, grease arrestors, trade waste treatment systems and light fluid separators.

- Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions and installation manuals.

- Install mechanical, hydraulic and treatment system components, including pumps, pipework, valves, level controls and associated equipment.

- Conduct pre-delivery inspections, testing and commissioning of assembled systems.

- Perform site installations throughout Australia as required.

- Carry out fault finding, troubleshooting and rectification of operational issues on installed systems.

- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and process-related faults and recommend corrective actions.

- Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of GRAF systems and associated equipment.

- Carry out repairs, adjustments and component replacements where required.

- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve system reliability and efficiency.

- Prepare service reports, installation reports and maintenance records.





- Assist customers and contractors with technical support relating to product installation and operation.

- Participate in product testing, quality assurance inspections and continuous improvement activities.

- Assist with loading and unloading equipment, site preparation and logistics activities when required.

- Maintain workshop equipment, tools and service vehicles in a secure and operational condition.

- Comply with all workplace health, safety and environmental requirements.

- Participate in technical training and ongoing professional development.

- Assist at product demonstrations, trade shows, training events and customer presentations when required.

- Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel.

Essential

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mechanical trade, with hands-on experience in mechanical installation, maintenance, servicing and fault finding.

- Relevant mechanical trade qualification or equivalent practical trade experience.

- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic and technical drawings.

- Experience working with pumps, pipework, valves and mechanical equipment is highly desirable.

- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and practical mechanical skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team across workshop and site environments.

- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Australia for site installations and service work.

Desirable

- Experience with wastewater treatment, water treatment, pump stations or environmental infrastructure.

- Experience with hydraulic and basic electrical systems.

- Forklift Licence (LF).

- Confined Space Entry certification.

- Working at Heights certification.

- First Aid qualification.

- Trade qualification or technical qualification in mechanical, engineering, maintenance or related disciplines.

- Experience with commissioning industrial equipment and customer site support.
