As Mack Civil continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to join our pre-contracts team and play a key role in securing our future project pipeline.

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Civil Estimator with strong civil construction experience and a proven ability to independently price and manage complex tenders.

You will take ownership of tenders from initial review through to submission, post-tender clarifications and successful handover to the delivery team.

You will be responsible for developing competitive first-principles estimates, construction methodologies, tender strategies and commercial solutions across a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure projects for Transport for NSW, local councils and other government clients.

This is a senior position suited to an estimator who understands how civil projects are actually built and can apply that knowledge to develop accurate, commercially sound and competitive tenders.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage civil tenders from initial opportunity review through to final submission.

- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, contract documentation and tender requirements.





- Prepare detailed first-principles estimates across labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and suppliers.

- Develop tender strategies, construction methodologies, staging and preliminary requirements.

- Complete detailed quantity take-offs and pricing schedules.

- Obtain, analyse and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

- Identify scope gaps, project risks, opportunities, exclusions and commercial considerations.

- Develop value engineering and alternative construction solutions where appropriate.

- Attend tender briefings, site inspections and pre-tender meetings.

- Work closely with the Estimating Manager, project managers, engineers and senior management throughout the tender process.

- Review tender programs, resource requirements and proposed construction methodologies.

- Lead or contribute to tender review meetings and final commercial reviews.

- Prepare and respond to post-tender clarifications and negotiations.

- Support the successful handover of awarded projects to the delivery team.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and industry partners.

- Monitor market conditions, construction rates and industry trends.

- Provide guidance and support to estimators and other members of the pre-contracts team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:





- Minimum 5+ years' experience in civil construction estimating, with demonstrated experience in a senior or lead estimating capacity.

- A proven track record pricing and securing civil infrastructure projects.

- Strong first-principles estimating experience across roads, intersections, drainage, utilities, pavements, earthworks, concrete, structures, streetscapes and public domain works.

- Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, staging, productivity rates, plant requirements and project resourcing.

- Experience managing tenders from initial review through to submission and post-tender negotiations.

- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.

- Experience interpreting complex drawings, specifications, contracts and technical documentation.

- Experience with estimating and construction software such as Benchmark, Bluebeam and MS Project, or similar.

- Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

- Solid attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with estimating, engineering and delivery teams.

- Experience tendering for Transport for NSW, local councils and other government authorities is highly regarded.

- Previous site-based project engineering, project management or construction experience will be highly regarded.
