About the Role
We are seeking reliable, compassionate, and resilient Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting a young boy based in Albion Park, NSW.
Living with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and a Spinal Cord Injury, our client uses a wheelchair and is currently navigating challenges that require patient, positive support. Living with his two carers and sister, he requires assistance with daily routines, personal care, and bowel management as he works toward developing greater independence.
In this role, you will work directly alongside his primary carers helping to deliver active support while providing vital respite for the family.
Comprehensive role-specific training will be provided prior to commencing shifts.
Shifts on Offer
This position primarily focuses on fixed weekend coverage, with flexibility to act as a backup worker during the week and take on expanded hours during school holidays:
- Fixed Weekend Shifts (School Term): Saturday & Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM (8.5 hours/day)
- Weekday Backup Shifts (School Term): Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM (5 hours/day — as required)
- School Holiday Coverage: Monday to Sunday availability, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM (8.5 hours/day)
Note:
Potential for additional morning support shifts may become available once you are familiar with the client and family.
What You Will Do
- Routine & Daily Activity Support: Assist the client with his structured daily routine and engaging activities alongside his primary carers.
- Personal Care & Independence Support: Assist with personal care, hygiene, and bowel routines as he develops independence (including prompting and support with nappies or catheter care as directed by the care team).
- Carer Respite: Provide active assistance to ease household pressure and deliver structured assistance for the primary carers.
- Behaviour Support: Implement positive behaviour management strategies with patience, consistency, and active engagement.
- Documentation & Safety: Maintain accurate shift notes, track progress, and report incidents in accordance with organizational policies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Experience with Children & Complex Care: Prior experience working with children, particularly those with complex physical disabilities (TBI/Spinal Cord Injury) or high-needs behavioural support, is highly beneficial.
- Compassionate & Resilient: Patient, calm under pressure, and adaptable to changing behaviours within a family home environment.
- Strong Team Player: Comfortable working in a dual-care setup alongside primary carers in the home.
- Roster Flexibility: Reliable commitment to fixed weekend shifts,
with willingness to assist with weekday backup coverage and additional school holiday hours.
- Essential Credentials:
- Current First Aid (HLTAID011) & CPR Certificate
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable personal transport
