Jasper Farms is one of Australia's leading avocado growers, with around 400 hectares under production across two orchards near Busselton. A third site, also in the Busselton region, is currently undergoing a 200-hectare orchard redevelopment, marking an exciting phase of renewal for the business.
As part of our continued evolution, we are realigning our team to better support future growth. As a result we have an exciting new opportunity within the leadership team for a Finance Business Manager.
About the role
As Finance Business Manager, you'll be a key member of the team, keeping a close eye on financial performance across growing, harvesting and sales. Your insights will guide commercial decisions, sharpen cost efficiency and drive profitability.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead month-end and year-end close, and oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets.
- Deliver management reporting (P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow and forecasts) and present results to the management team.
- Run budgeting and rolling forecasts aligned to the growing season, working with agronomy and operations to build yield and cost assumptions.
- Analyse costs and profitability by block, grade, and benchmark cost and provide variance analysis with actionable insights.
- Evaluate capital projects, including orchard redevelopment, irrigation and machinery, from business case through to post-investment review
- Manage Jasper Farms’ cash flow within available facilities and prepare the required treasury reporting.
- Review grower, packing and marketing agreements, including settlement reconciliations
- Support tax, audit and compliance obligations under Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and internal controls.
- Ongoing review and evaluation of finance systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and to strengthen links between finance and farm management systems.
Develop and implement solutions through engagement with staff at all levels.
- Lead, develop and support the Finance team, and champion a zero-harm safety culture.
About you
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and will have demonstrated a minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management experience. You will be passionate about what you do and possess the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- CPA or CA qualification.
- Strong proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of Power BI.
The following experience is desirable:
- Significant accounting experience in taxation, financial reporting and/or audit, including recent experience in a similar level role within a commercial and/or public practice environment.
- Demonstrated capability in leading and managing an operational team and a practical understanding of contemporary people management practices.
- Strong accounting and analytical skills including familiarity with applying AI and advanced analytics tools to financial analysis, forecasting and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations.
- Proven ability to understand key financial and business variables in a complex and changing commercial environment.
- Proven ability to meet statutory obligations.
- Demonstrated experience in primary production, food processing, manufacturing or another physical-inventory environment, with agriculture strongly preferred.
