About Us

For over a century, our Paints & Coatings brands have helped shape the homes, buildings, and infrastructure that define Australia and New Zealand. From protecting iconic landmarks to adding colour to everyday spaces, our work makes a lasting impact.

Proudly part of the DuluxGroup and home to some of the region’s most trusted and beloved brands including Dulux, Berger, Acratex, British Paints, and Porter’s Paints - you’ll be joining a team of passionate people globally who are proud to create, innovate, and lead.

We’re consistently recognised as one of ANZ’s most trusted brands, and we’re committed to building better futures - for our customers, our communities, and our people.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Assistant Store Manager, you'll be the Store Manager's trusted 2IC and a visible leader on the floor. You'll help provide reliable opening and closing coverage, lead from the counter, coach the team and keep the store running safely and efficiently. You'll build confidence with trade contractors and DIY customers, drive sales and key store results, and maintain strong operational standards across cash, inventory, merchandising and customer service. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who stays organised under pressure, takes ownership and is motivated by both a well-presented store and strong commercial performance.

This is a full-time role of 38 hours per week based at our Dandenong, VIC, Paint Spot Store. Our trade retail environment operates across a seven-day roster, so regular weekend availability and flexibility to support opening and closing coverage are important parts of the role.

Our Benefits

- Up to $1,000 net annually to cover private health extras gap costs

- Exclusive discounts on DuluxGroup products and partner offers

- Stay active anytime, anywhere through our partnership with Fitness Passport

- 20 weeks paid parental leave (primary carers) and 2 weeks partner leave from day one

- Market leading learning, development and career pathways

- Access to our Wellbeing Hub and full EAP support

- Recognition programs that celebrate your impact

What We’re Looking for

- Strong 2IC leadership capability, including leading shifts, coaching the team, supporting opening and closing routines, and stepping up when the Store Manager is unavailable

- Visible, hands-on leadership at the counter, with the confidence to build relationships and deliver excellent service to trade contractors and DIY customers

- A strong commercial mindset and genuine drive to grow sales, improve KPIs, identify customer opportunities and contribute to profitable store performance

- Operational discipline across cash handling and EFTPOS, inventory and stock control, merchandising, and consistent daily store routines. Experience in the paint industry or a trade-focused retail environment would be highly regarded, however we are equally interested in strong leaders who can bring transferable skills and a passion for customer service and sales. Full product training will be provided

- A safety-first mindset, with the physical capacity to safely undertake manual handling and active duties in a paint retail workplace, with reasonable adjustments available where required

- The ability to remain calm, organised and decisive under pressure, supported by strong reliability, personal accountability and roster flexibility, including regular weekend work as a normal part of trade retail
