Keep the city's facilities flowing

Our community uses Council buildings and facilities every day. You'll be the one making sure the plumbing behind them is safe, compliant and working as it should.

As our Facilities Plumbing Officer, you'll join a small, capable Facilities team in City Operations, reporting to the Team Leader Facilities. Your week will mix hands-on work with planning: reactive jobs, scheduled inspections, minor projects, and technical advice that shapes how our assets are looked after for years to come.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

- Delivering reactive, preventative and programmed plumbing maintenance across Council buildings and facilities, including toilets, sinks, drainage, water supply and hot water systems

- Carrying out scheduled inspections and audits, such as leak detection, backflow prevention and hot water systems, and reporting on asset condition

- Managing and delivering minor operational projects and renewals, applying Council's procurement policies and procedures

- Engaging, coordinating and supervising plumbing contractors, and keeping work sites safe for employees, contractors and the community

- Investigating plumbing enquiries and complaints,



and giving customers clear technical advice and written responses

- Contributing to asset management and maintenance plans, and supporting the Emergency Management Team during emergency events

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

- Certificate IV in Plumbing (or an equivalent recognised plumbing trade qualification) and a current Plumbing Practitioner Licence

- A Construction Industry White Card and a current Class C driver licence

- CPCPWT4022 Commission and maintain backflow prevention devices, and CPCPWT4023 Commission and maintain hot and heated water temperature control devices

- Working at heights and confined space competencies

- Relevant experience in plumbing maintenance within commercial or public facilities (minimum 5 years)

- Project and contractor management skills, and the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a small team

- Excellent communication, time management and problem-solving skills, with a strong customer service ethic

- MSMSS00019 Operate a Drain Cleaning System and traffic management experience are highly regarded
