About the role
The Storeperson manages the day-to-day receipt, storage, movement and dispatch of materials, components and finished products. The role keeps stock accurate and accessible, supplies the factory with what it needs and ensures customer orders are prepared correctly and on time.
The role is required for at least 3 days a week, other arrangements can be contemplated.
Key responsibilities
- Pick and issue fittings, hardware, packaging and other materials to support production priorities.
- Pick, check and pack orders, confirming the correct products, quantities, fittings and paperwork before dispatch.
- Coordinate collections and deliveries with the office, production team and transport providers.
- Prepare finished tanks and other large products for protected handling and transport, using suitable equipment and agreed loading procedures.
- Receive deliveries and check quantities, product codes and condition against purchase orders and delivery paperwork.
- Record incoming goods promptly and report shortages, damage or incorrect items to the relevant supervisor.
- Label and put away stock in allocated locations, keeping storage areas organised and goods protected from damage.
- Maintain accurate records of stock receipts, issues, returns and transfers using the company stock system.
- Monitor stock levels and flag low stock or replenishment needs before they affect production.
- Carry out regular stock counts, investigate discrepancies and report required adjustments for approval.
About you
- Experience in stores, warehousing, receiving, dispatch or a similar hands-on role.
- Strong attention to detail when checking stock, counting quantities and completing paperwork.
- Basic computer skills and confidence entering information into stock or business systems.
- Ability to organise daily work, communicate clearly and respond to changing production and dispatch priorities.
- A reliable, practical approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a factory team.
- Operate forklifts and other handling equipment only when appropriately licensed, trained and authorised.
- Use safe manual handling methods and lifting aids, particularly when handling bulky products.
- A current forklift licence and practical operating experience are required.
- Experience with manufacturing stores, bulky products or inventory systems would be advantageous.
