Our projects include health, education, commercial, community and government facilities, ranging from smaller targeted projects through to significant public and community infrastructure. We are seeking an Architect who enjoys being involved – in the design, in the documentation, with the client and ultimately in seeing a project built. The opportunityThis is not intended to be a narrowly defined production role.As part of a smaller practice, you will have the opportunity to be involved across the full delivery of projects – establishing the brief, developing the design, coordinating consultants, preparing documentation and remaining involved through procurement and construction. You will work directly with the Director and our architectural team, while also developing your own relationships with clients,
consultants and contractors. We are looking for someone capable of accepting responsibility for their work and projects, but this does not mean working without support.
Responsibility will grow with experience and capability, with the Director and broader team remaining actively involved and providing support and mentoring as your role develops.Your work is likely to include:architectural design and design developmentpreparation and coordination of documentation in Revitconsultant coordination and resolution of technical mattersdirect communication with clients and project stakeholderspreparation of approvals, tender and construction documentationinvolvement in tendering and procurementconstruction-phase services, including site inspections, RFIs and contract administrationassisting graduates and technical staff as your role developscontributing to the systems, standards and ongoing development of the practice. What we are looking forYou will be registered as an Architect in Queensland, or able to obtain Queensland registration through mutual recognition, with a minimum of two years' experience following registration.More key than fitting a particular mould,
we are looking for someone with a sound architectural foundation who wants to continue developing professionally. You should bring:good architectural design and documentation skillsstrong working knowledge of Revitpractical understanding of construction and detailingfamiliarity with Australian codes, standards and approval processesconfidence communicating with clients, consultants and contractorsan organised approach to managing projects and deliverablesgood written and verbal communicationan ability to work independently while remaining comfortable seeking input when required.Experience in health, education, commercial or government projects would be well regarded, although we are equally interested in relevant experience gained in other sectors.Working with Informed ArchitectsWe believe one of the advantages of working within a smaller architectural practice is the ability to understand and participate in the complete process of delivering architecture. You will not be restricted to one project phase or expected to remain behind the documentation.
Our Architects are encouraged to understand the client's objectives, participate in the decisions that shape the project and remain involved as those decisions are translated into built outcomes. Our regional location also creates opportunities to work on projects and with communities that are quite different from those encountered in metropolitan practice. We are committed to ongoing professional development and creating an environment where our Architects can continue to broaden their technical, project and professional capability. We are growing, and we want the people who join us to grow with the practice.
For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to assume greater project, client and team leadership over time and to become an important part of the future direction of Informed Architects.
