Romba Pty Ltd is seeking a
Sports Turf Specialist
to join our team. This is a
full-time position
offering an exciting opportunity to specialise in sports turf management, construction and maintenance. You will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and longevity of sports facilities, working in office to deliver exceptional turf solutions that meet the highest standards of play and safety.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands sports turf construction, takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys working outdoors as part of a professional team. Works include the operation of various plant and equipment in turf renovation and turf construction.
What you'll be doing
Prepare soil and sites for new turf installation
Carry out turf renovation activities such as scarifying, dethatching, aeration, topdressing, coring, and overseeding
Install and lay turf, including preparation
Undertake soil improvement, grading, levelling, and drainage works
Operate landscaping and turf equipment and machinery safely
Apply fertilisers, soil conditioners, seed, and other turf products.
Implement turf maintenance strategies for the successful establishment of sports fields
Conduct mowing, edging, weed control, and general turf maintenance.
Monitor turf health, irrigation, soil conditions, nutrition and pest management
What we're looking for
Formal qualification or certification in sports turf management, horticulture or a related field
Proven experience in sports turf establishment and maintenance within a professional setting
Strong knowledge of grass species, soil science and turf agronomy




Experience with turf maintenance equipment and machinery operation
Proficiency in irrigation systems
Understanding of pest, disease and weed management in turf environments
Knowledge of sports facility standards and playing surface requirements
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and teams
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to various sites as required
