Lead the next evolution of procurement at PMFresh
PMFresh is looking for an experienced and commercially driven
Head of Procurement
to lead our national procurement function and play a key role in strengthening the commercial performance of our business.
Reporting directly to the
Chief Executive Officer
, this is a senior leadership position with responsibility across
fresh produce, food ingredients, packaging and major indirect and overhead expenditure
.
This role is about more than purchasing. We are looking for someone who can build a more strategic, data-driven and commercially disciplined procurement function – improving cost, strengthening supplier performance, managing supply risk and creating greater visibility and control across our external spend.
The opportunity
Operating within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, you will develop and execute PMFresh's national procurement strategy and establish a structured category management approach across the business.
You will have the opportunity to challenge existing ways of working, leverage our national purchasing scale and build stronger commercial disciplines around sourcing, contracting, supplier management and procurement governance.
Your key areas of responsibility will include:
Developing and executing the national procurement and category strategy.
Leading sourcing across
fresh produce, ingredients, packaging and significant indirect spend
.
Building strategic relationships with growers, suppliers and commercial partners.
Leading major tenders, negotiations and supplier agreements.
Establishing a measurable pipeline of
procurement savings, cost avoidance and inflation mitigation
.




Improving visibility of spend and identifying opportunities for supplier consolidation, specification optimisation, alternative sourcing and value engineering.
Understanding commodity markets, seasonality and supply risks and translating these into forward-looking sourcing strategies.
Strengthening supplier performance management, including KPIs, scorecards and strategic supplier reviews.
Developing alternative sourcing and contingency strategies for business-critical materials.
Strengthening procurement governance, contract management and purchasing controls.
Partnering closely with Operations, Commercial, Finance, Technical, NPD, Planning and Supply Chain.
Leading and developing the Procurement team.
About you
We are looking for an established procurement leader who combines strong commercial capability with the ability to operate effectively in a complex and fast-moving operational environment.
You will ideally bring:
Significant senior procurement, sourcing or commercial experience within
food manufacturing, FMCG, fresh produce, agriculture or a related industry
.
Experience managing substantial multi-category procurement expenditure.
Strong experience across fresh produce, food ingredients and/or packaging.
A demonstrated track record of delivering
material and measurable procurement savings
.
Robust commercial negotiation and contract management capability.
Experience developing category strategies and leading competitive tenders.




A strong understanding of commodity markets, cost drivers and supply risk.
Strong financial and analytical capability, including detailed spend and cost analysis.
Experience operating within a multi-site environment.
The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and constructively challenge established suppliers, specifications and purchasing practices.
Experience within
fresh prepared foods, chilled manufacturing or short shelf-life products
, together with knowledge of Australian produce markets and growing regions, will be highly regarded.
What success looks like
Success in this role will be visible and measurable. You will establish greater commercial discipline across procurement, deliver validated savings, improve supplier and contract performance, reduce supply risk and build a procurement function capable of supporting PMFresh's future growth.
Importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that the lowest purchase price is not always the best commercial outcome. The successful candidate will balance
cost, quality, service, food safety, working capital and continuity of supply
when making procurement decisions.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a strategically important function with
