Vandil

Brisbane

Today Vandil is an AI-native law firm, built from the ground up to dominate the fastest-growing legal market: AI and privacy regulation.
We're not just another law firm bolting on AI tools.
We're an AI company that also practices law.
From our client portal to our predictive regulatory intelligence, we're building an entirely current legal operating system — one that helps organisations confidently adopt the latest technology and stay ahead of regulators, not react to them.
At Vandil, we hire people who are naturally curious — the kind of people who don't wait to be told what to learn.
We believe the future of legal technology will be built by people who go deep, not just broad.
Whether that means pursuing further study in law, computer science, or both, we actively encourage our team to push the boundaries of what they know.
If you're someone who reads the latest regulatory developments for fun, tinkers with new models on weekends, or can't stop asking "what if?" — you'll feel at home here.
We ship fast, we think big, and we're building something that hasn't existed before.
If you're ready to help define the future of law — not just participate in it — we'd love to hear from you.
Lawyer — Privacy & Technology — Part-Time, Remote (Queensland)
Vandil is an AI-native law firm launching in Queensland.
We're looking for a Queensland-admitted privacy and technology lawyer to join us on a part-time, contract basis as we bring our first clients on board — someone who's comfortable working independently, wants to be part of something being built from the ground up, and sees AI-augmented legal delivery as the future of the profession.
This is a foundational role.
You'll be one of the first lawyers at Vandil,

working closely with our founder to deliver high-quality legal services to technology companies through our Lawyer-In-The-Loop model — where AI handles the routine drafting and you provide the expert review, judgment, and client relationship that technology can't replace.
What you'll do
To start, you'll focus on a defined set of privacy and technology law deliverables: reviewing and finalising AI-drafted privacy policies and terms of service for mid-market technology companies, ensuring compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles and other applicable regulatory requirements, providing practical legal advice on data collection, processing, and disclosure obligations, and identifying issues and refining outputs within our Vandil Intelligence Platform.
As the practice grows, there'll be opportunity to expand into broader privacy and technology advisory work — AI governance, data breach response, vendor agreements, and more.
We're building a firm with a long runway, and the right person will grow with it.
More about you
You hold an unrestricted Queensland practising certificate (this is a strict requirement — applications from lawyers without an unrestricted Queensland PC will not be considered).
You have at least 3 years of post-admission experience, with meaningful exposure to privacy law, technology transactions, or regulatory compliance.
Experience advising on the Australian Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles, or comparable frameworks is highly valued, as is familiarity with terms of service, SaaS agreements, or data processing arrangements.
You're comfortable working independently and remotely.

You can manage your own workload without hand-holding, meet turnaround commitments, and communicate clearly when you need something.
You understand the commercial context behind the legal work — you're not just checking boxes, you're solving problems for clients who are building technology products.
You're open to AI.
You don't need to be a technologist, but you should be curious about how AI tools are changing legal practice and willing to work within a delivery model that puts AI-drafted work in front of you for review and refinement.
The role
This is a part-time, contract engagement to begin with.
Hours and scope will be shaped around your availability and client demand — we're not looking for someone to clock in and out, we're looking for someone who can deliver.
Work is fully remote.
We're an equal opportunity employer
Vandil is an equal opportunity employer.
We believe that building the future of legal technology requires diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
We welcome and encourage applications from everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
If you need any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know — we're happy to help.
