The Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst specialising in Investment Data and Investment Technology to work within an established team embedded in a sophisticated institutional investment environment.

This is a hands-on technical BA position that sits between investment teams, data specialists, architects and engineers. We need someone who can understand an investment problem, interrogate the underlying data and systems, define how information needs to move between platforms, and translate that into requirements an engineering team can build from.

You will interrogate data, define mappings and business rules, analyse integrations and APIs, trace data from source to consumption and translate complex investment requirements into specifications that architects and engineers can build from.

A formal approach to business analysis underpinned by CBAP, CBDA, Agile/Scrum or SAFe qualifications is required. Investment qualifications such as CFA Institute programs would be advantageous.

What We Are Looking For

We are specifically seeking someone who has developed their career within institutional investment management, superannuation, wealth management, asset management or investment banking technology, and understands how investment data is created, enriched, transformed, reconciled and consumed.

You will bring a strong combination of:

- Deep knowledge of investment data and investment processes, ideally spanning portfolio/position data, Security Master, IBOR/ABOR, performance and attribution, investment risk, compliance, investment operations or regulatory reporting.




- Strong hands-on SQL and data analysis capability, including data profiling, mapping, reconciliation, data quality and lineage.
- Experience defining REST APIs, system interfaces, integration requirements, data flows and technical specifications.
- Understanding of conceptual, logical and physical data models and the ability to work directly with complex investment datasets.
- Exposure to contemporary investment-data environments using technologies such as Databricks, AWS, Azure, Power BI and Python.
- Experience working directly with Product Owners, investment SMEs, architects, engineers and testing teams within Agile delivery.
- The ability to own a problem through delivery rather than handing requirements over once documentation is complete.

Why You Will Be Suitable

You will recognise yourself in this role if you can move comfortably between an investment conversation and a technical one. You understand the meaning of the data as well as its structure, lineage and movement between systems.

You may have previously delivered solutions involving whole-of-portfolio or positional data, private-market look-through, investment performance and attribution, investment compliance, regulatory reporting, data interfaces or investment-data APIs. These are strong examples of the type of practical experience relevant to the role.

You should be comfortable opening a dataset or writing SQL to investigate an issue, tracing why positions or performance data do not reconcile, working through an API or interface specification with an engineer, and then explaining the business implications clearly to an investment stakeholder.
