The Intermediate Accountant specialising in Business Service & Tax, will work within a highly regarded accounting and advisory firm to provide high-quality taxation, business accounting, bookkeeping and compliance support to a diverse portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will have 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience and be confident working across a broad range of accounting functions, including tax accounting and bookkeeping.

The role requires strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting principles, a professional client service approach, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role:

- Preparing and lodging income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.

- Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other statutory obligations.

- Preparing tax schedules, tax reconciliations, provisions, reports and supporting working papers.

- Assisting with tax planning, identifying lawful tax-saving opportunities and escalating recommendations to senior accountants.

- Assisting with ATO correspondence, reviews and audits, and maintaining accurate taxation records.

- Researching relevant taxation legislation and applying Australian tax requirements to client matters.

- Preparing annual financial statements, management reports, balance sheets and profit and loss statements.

- Preparing asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analysing accounting information.

- Completing general ledger reconciliations and investigating financial discrepancies and variances.

- Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting, budgeting and cash flow forecasting.

- Analysing financial performance and preparing clear

- Assisting senior accountants with business advisory, structuring and consulting matters.

- Providing accurate financial information and practical accounting support to clients and internal stakeholders.





- Providing bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients, including accounts payable and accounts

- Liaising professionally with clients to obtain accounting, taxation and supporting information.

- Maintaining strong client relationships and delivering responsive, accurate service.

- Consistent accounting practices across the firm.

- Working collaboratively with senior accountants, advisors

Key Skills and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.

- 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a public practice accounting firm.

- Confidence across tax accounting, business accounting and bookkeeping functions.

- Sound knowledge of Australian taxation laws, accounting principles, regulations and standards.

- Experience preparing financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and IAS.

- Experience with bookkeeping, payroll and account reconciliations is preferred.

- Ability to prepare, interpret and explain financial statements and accounting information.

- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or similar platforms.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.

- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, accuracy and time management.

- Ability to work with complex financial data, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a skilled client service approach.

- Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively within a team.

- CA or CPA studies, or a willingness to commence professional qualifications, are highly regarded.
