About us

For over 150 years, Anglicare Southern Queensland has been walking alongside Queenslanders, offering care, support, and dignity to those who need it most. By providing a range of support services, including aged care, foster care, family support, homelessness services, youth support and counselling, our mission is to make a lasting impact by fostering hope, independence, and inclusion.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and care. Join our team today, and make a difference today, tomorrow and together. Be where you are needed. Belong right here.

About the Role:

Anglicare Youth Homelessness Services is a youth housing and support program working with young people and young families aged 16 to 25. The service provides a range of mobile support, short-term and transitional accommodation options, supporting young people to access and maintain safe and stable housing while building the skills, connections and opportunities that are important to their future.

The overall purpose of the Practitioner is to work alongside young people living in our accommodation or in the community. Practitioners provide trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred support that recognises each young person's individual experiences, capabilities, strengths, goals and aspirations.

Using Advantaged Thinking and coaching approaches, the Practitioner will prioritise relationships with young people, creating a secure and respectful environment where young people are supported to identify what matters to them, make informed choices, recognise their strengths, build confidence and develop the skills and connections that support greater independence and long-term housing stability.

The Practitioner will work with young people to explore opportunities in areas such as education, employment, health, wellbeing and community participation, while supporting positive connections with family, natural supports and community where appropriate and guided by the young person.

Practitioners work collaboratively as part of a broader team, sharing responsibility for providing consistent and responsive support to young people. Our short-term accommodation services (Mount Gravatt and Beenleigh) operate within a 24/7 staffing model, recognising that young people may require support at different times. The role also includes participation in an on-call roster for one week approximately every six weeks, providing after-hours guidance and support when required.

The Practitioner will work in accordance with the values and practice frameworks of Anglicare Southern Queensland (Anglicare), bringing their knowledge, experience and professional judgement to a team committed to learning, reflective practice and achieving positive, sustainable outcomes alongside young people.

This is a full-time opportunity within Youth Homelessness Services, working 38 hours per week from our new purpose-built Youth Accommodation service in Beenleigh.

The new service includes 30 semi-independent, one-bedroom units, providing young people with their own private space while having access to support when they need it. Staff are based on the ground floor, creating a supportive presence while respecting each young person's privacy, choice and growing independence.

The service is designed to be more than a place to stay. Practitioners will work alongside young people to create a welcoming and supportive workplace where they can build confidence, strengthen life skills and connections, and work towards their housing, education, employment and personal goals.

Work hours are Monday to Friday, between 6:30am and 8:00pm, with the eight-hour workday able to be negotiated within these hours. Practitioners will work collaboratively with the broader team to provide consistent support across the service.
