This is more than a grader operating position. You will be an experienced operator who is confident on the grader but can also take responsibility for coordinating and directing the crew around you. You will be expected to understand what needs to be done, communicate this clearly to the operators and labourers around you, and work closely with the Supervisor to ensure the job is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Key responsibilities
- Final trim grader operations
- GPS and/or UTS machine control
- Directing and coordinating the civil crew on a day-to-day basis
- Allocating work to operators and labourers as required
- Coordinating trucks, excavators, rollers and other plant around the work being completed
- Working closely with the Supervisor to plan and sequence daily activities
- Road formation and pavement construction
- Bulk earthworks and civil construction
- Trimming to design levels and tolerances
- Reading plans, levels and job requirements
About you
- Strong and proven final trim grader experience
- Experience with GPS and/or UTS machine control
- A positive understanding of road construction, pavement and earthworks
- Previous experience leading, coordinating or directing a civil crew
- The ability to give clear instructions and communicate effectively with operators
- The ability to read plans, levels and job requirements
- The confidence to identify problems and raise them with the Supervisor
- A strong understanding of site safety and the responsibilities that come with directing other workers
- The ability to work independently while keeping management informed
- A practical approach to getting the job done safely and efficiently
