About Skelleys

Skelleys is an electrical industrial motor and pump service company specialising in the repair, maintenance, rewinding and servicing of industrial electric motors, pumps and associated equipment.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electric Motor Winder to join our workshop team.

This is a hands-on position for someone with practical experience in industrial electric motor rewinding, winding repair and motor refurbishment.

? Key Responsibilities – Electric Motor Winder

- Inspect and assess electric motors for rewinding and repair.

- Diagnosing, dismantling, rewinding, and reassembling electric motors

- Record motor nameplate details and existing winding specifications.

- Record wire size, turns, coil dimensions, pitch, connections and winding configuration.

- Dismantle motors and remove existing windings.

- Strip and clean stators in preparation for rewinding.

- Prepare coils and winding components to required specifications.

- Wind and install coils into stators.

- Install slot insulation, phase insulation, wedges and other winding insulation.

- Connect and terminate motor windings according to specifications.

- Carry out lacing, tying, bracing and finishing of windings.

- Apply varnish, resin or other insulation treatments as required.

- Perform insulation resistance, continuity, winding resistance and other winding tests.

- Identify winding faults and report any additional repair requirements.

- Assist with motor assembly following completion of rewinding.





- Carry out final testing and quality checks before motors are returned to service.

- Maintain accurate winding data, job sheets, material usage and test results.

- Ensure all winding work meets required quality, safety and production standards.

- Maintain a clean, organised and safe winding area.

⚙️ Skills & Experience

We are looking for a candidate with:

- Proven hands-on experience as an Electric Motor Winder.

- Experience rewinding industrial electric motors.

- Strong understanding of motor winding configurations and construction.

- Ability to accurately record and reproduce winding data.

- Experience with coil winding, coil insertion and winding connections.

- Experience with insulation systems and varnishing/resin treatment.

- Ability to perform electrical winding tests.

- Good understanding of motor components and refurbishment processes.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- A strong commitment to workplace safety.
