Huntingdale Golf Club, located in the heart of Melbourne’s renowned Sandbelt region, is one of Australia’s premier golf clubs.
Following the recent completion of a full course redevelopment by internationally recognised golf course architects OCM, an exciting opportunity exists to join Huntingdale’s Agronomy team during an important period in the Club’s history.
The Club is seeking positive, enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join the golf course maintenance team as either a Qualified Groundsperson or Apprentice Groundsperson.
For apprentice applicants, we welcome those who have already commenced their apprenticeship as well as individuals who are new to the industry and interested in building a career in golf course maintenance and turf management.
Successful applicants should have a genuine interest in turf management, horticulture and machinery, together with a strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Qualified Groundsperson
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- A qualification in Sports Turf Management or equivalent
- Experience across all facets of golf course or sports turf management
- Experience operating a broad range of turf maintenance machinery
- Sound knowledge of pest and disease management and control
- Experience in chemical application
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, including programming, repairs and troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills
- A strong work ethic and high attention to detail
- A sound understanding of workplace health, safety and environmental requirements
- A current Australian driver’s licence
Apprentice Groundsperson
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- A genuine interest in turf management, horticulture and machinery
- A solid desire to learn and develop within the golf course maintenance industry
- A strong work ethic and high attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Good communication skills
- An understanding of workplace health, safety and environmental requirements
- Previous experience operating grounds maintenance machinery is desirable but not essential
- A current Australian driver’s licence
Applicants who have already commenced a Sports Turf Management apprenticeship are encouraged to apply, as are those looking to begin their apprenticeship.
