Martello Law is Australian owned and is staffed across three offices with specialist insurance lawyers who have top tier and global firm insurance experience, acting as both coverage and defence counsel and risk management specialists for local and international insurance companies and Lloyd’s syndicates.

Our office is based in Brisbane CBD, and we are looking for a skilled, adaptable, and quick learning team member to join our legal team.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide expert legal advice, manage casework, and support senior lawyers across various matters. This position involves conducting detailed legal research, drafting and reviewing complex legal documents, and representing clients in negotiations, mediations and court proceedings.

Key responsibilities

- Client Matter Management - Efficiently manage client files from intake to resolution, ensuring alignment with client objectives, timely progress, and compliance with firm procedures and deadlines.

- Client Communication - Maintain clear, professional, and proactive communication with clients to provide updates, explain legal concepts, manage expectations, and address concerns throughout the matter lifecycle.

- Legal Research & Analysis - Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to inform case strategy, ensuring accurate interpretation of laws, precedents, and regulatory frameworks.

- Document Drafting & Review - Prepare, draft, and review high-quality legal documents tailored to client needs, ensuring legal accuracy, procedural compliance, and clarity.





- Deadline & Compliance Management - Track and manage all critical dates, court deadlines, and procedural requirements to avoid delays and ensure compliance with legal and firm standards.

- Client Relationship Management - Foster strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service, understanding individual client needs, and building trust for ongoing and future engagements.

- Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Collaborate effectively with colleagues across all levels, contribute to shared case strategies, and support the development of junior staff through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

- Professional Development & Contribution - Engage in ongoing professional development and actively contribute to firm initiatives aimed at improving legal service delivery, efficiency, and compliance.

About you

The ideal candidate will have two to four years’ post-admission experience in an insurance law firm or similar legal environment. Professional indemnity, public liability and defendant personal injury experience will all be highly regarded. The candidate must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), have completed Practical Legal Training (PLT), and be admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court. Strong communication and client management skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The role also requires excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced legal setting.
