Your new company
Our client is an established Australian-owned food manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality, reliability and continuous improvement. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the site's maintenance function, develop the maintenance team and improve plant reliability and performance.
Your new role
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead the maintenance function across plant reliability, preventative maintenance, breakdowns, contractors, costs and team development. People-first leadership will be a major focus. You'll build strong relationships with your trades team, coach and develop people and create a culture of accountability and ownership. This isn't a purely office-based role. You'll be comfortable getting onto the floor, working alongside your team and using your technical background to solve problems when required. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching and developing the maintenance team.
- Reducing downtime and improving plant reliability.
- Driving preventative maintenance, planning and breakdown response.
- Developing the capability and accountability of trades staff.
- Managing contractors, maintenance costs, spare parts and inventory.
- Using maintenance data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Supporting capital projects and equipment upgrades.
- Driving continuous improvement across plant and equipment.
- Ensuring maintenance meets safety,
quality and food manufacturing requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience leading maintenance within food, FMCG or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Ideally a qualified Maintenance Fitter / Mechanical Fitter by trade.
- A genuine people-first leadership style with experience developing tradespeople.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, breakdowns, planning and reliability.
- Experience with food-grade refrigeration systems will be highly regarded.
- Experience managing contractors, maintenance costs and spare parts.
- A practical, hands-on and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across production, quality and senior leadership.
