About the role
The Quality Assurance Technician supports Kennewell's QMS through document control, compliance checks, audits, investigations, action follow-up and inspection. The role works within approved procedures and delegated authority. Escalate matters requiring interpretation, approval, customer commitments, product disposition or QMS changes. QC work increases when QA priorities permit.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining QMS documents and records, and checking that ISO 9001, Defence, export-control, customer, statutory and regulatory requirements are included in the QMS, Parts, Work Orders and Vendor POs.
- Completing office and shopfloor compliance checks, recording issues in ProShop, raising gaps early and following assigned actions to completion.
- Supporting internal and external audits through evidence, checklists, assigned impartial audits, draft reports, staff coordination and factual or technical answers within delegated authority.
- Reviewing audit findings, supporting root-cause investigations, drafting responses and action plans, implementing approved changes and tracking closure and effectiveness.
- Investigating NCRs, RMAs, complaints, returns and suspected counterfeit issues; coordinating containment; preparing recommendations; and supporting corrective, preventive and recall actions.
- Compiling management review data, reporting trends and risks, delivering assigned QMS training and maintaining competency records.
- Administering calibration and supplier quality, including schedules, recalls, initial out-of-range checks, supplier performance, NCRs and corrective actions.
- Performing receiving, first article,
in-process and final inspections against drawings, tolerances, Work Order instructions and acceptance criteria, using calibrated measuring equipment and recording results in ProShop.
- Checking product-release records, traceability, certificates and customer documents; identifying, labelling, segregating and holding potentially nonconforming product within delegated authority; raising NCRs and escalating disposition or release decisions.
About you
- Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control experience in manufacturing, engineering, CNC machining or a similar setting.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS requirements; Defence or export-control awareness would be highly regarded.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits; internal audit experience would be highly regarded.
- Experience with NCRs, complaints, root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Ability to read technical drawings, tolerances, specifications, certificates, procedures and customer requirements.
- Hands-on inspection experience using calibrated measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers or height gauges.
- Strong document-control, traceability, computer and administration skills; ProShop experience would be highly regarded.
- Clear communication, practical problem-solving and the ability to identify risks and recommend action.
- Organised, reliable, calm and evidence-based.
- Right to work in Australia and Australian citizenship is required.
