About the role
You will be the technical authority on every watch that comes through our doors. You inspect stock before we buy it, service and repair it before we sell it, and give clients honest, expert answers about condition and authenticity. This is a hands-on bench role in a small team. You will work closely with the directors on buying decisions and with clients on after-sales care.
Key responsibilities
Carry out full services on mechanical and automatic movements, including complications such as chronographs, GMTs and annual calendars
Diagnose faults and complete repairs, part replacements and regulation to manufacturer specifications
Replace gaskets and seals as part of every service
Pressure-test water resistance and timing-test every watch before it leaves the bench
Open and inspect watches before purchase to confirm movement, calibre, serial and reference details
Identify non-original, aftermarket or counterfeit parts, dials, hands and bracelets
Write transparent condition reports that the sales team can share with clients
Clean, refinish and polish cases and bracelets to a factory-level standard, and advise when a watch should be left unpolished
Replace crystals, crowns, tubes and bracelet parts
Maintain accurate service records, parts inventory and job tracking
About you
A recognised watchmaking qualification, such as WOSTEP, SAWTA, BHI or an equivalent Australian trade certification
At least 5 years of bench experience servicing luxury Swiss watches
Strong working knowledge of Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet calibres
Proven ability to spot non-genuine parts and modified watches
Excellent attention to detail and a steady, patient approach
Transparent written and spoken English for condition reports and client conversations
Full working rights in Australia
Brand-certified training (for example Rolex, Swatch Group or Richemont)
Experience with vintage watches and sourcing hard-to-find parts
Case and bracelet refinishing experience
