About the role
We're looking for a hands-on Assistant Bar Manager to be our 2IC across the bar, restaurant, and reception. It's a diverse role, part service, part leadership, part creative input, working closely with the Bar & Restaurant Manager to keep the venue running smoothly day to day.
Key responsibilities
Lead day-to-day trading across the bar, restaurant, and reception, including hands-on service during peak periods
Support rostering, ordering, invoicing, and stocktakes
Plan and deliver functions, set menus, and new cocktails
Coordinate live music, entertainment, and supplier activations
Lead and coach the Duty Manager team, and step up when the Bar & Restaurant Manager is away
Work with marketing on event promotion across social, EDM, and print
About you
Experience in a bar, restaurant, or venue management role
Customer service experience in a premium members' setting
Current NSW RSA certificate
Full Australian Working Rights
Confidence with POS, rostering, and accounting systems (e.g.
SENpos, Deputy, Xero)
Robust leadership and communication skills, calm under pressure
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and through the racing season (October–March)
A creative eye for drinks, menus, and events

The Australian 18 Footers League is a historic sailing club and licensed venue on Sydney Harbour in Double Bay, home to a busy bar, restaurant, and function business alongside our world famous 18 foot skiff racing program, which runs from October to March.
