Hurford's is an Australian third-generation family business founded in 1932. Hurford Wholesale distributes timber products across Australia and overseas, with this role based at our Yatala / Stapylton site.
The role
Before a regulated timber import goes ahead, we need to understand the supply chain and have the evidence required under Australia's illegal logging framework. This role owns that day-to-day work: reviewing supply chains, resolving gaps with suppliers and Purchasing, clearing purchase orders once issues are resolved, and keeping the supporting controls current.
What you'll do
• Review regulated timber supply chains before purchase, including legality, traceability, certification and supporting documents.
• Maintain the timber import due-diligence system, including procedures, assessment records, review dates and supplier certification records.
• Clear regulated purchase orders once due-diligence issues are resolved and assess current suppliers and supply chains before onboarding.
• Work directly with overseas suppliers and Purchasing to obtain evidence and resolve documentation or supply-chain issues.
• Track regulated imports through to completion and improve the processes, records and monitoring used to manage them.
• Support FSC/PEFC certification and related supply-chain or shipping projects as required.
What we're looking for
• A bachelor degree or higher in supply chain management, logistics, international trade, business, environmental management, economics or a directly relevant discipline.
• At least 12 months' recent hands-on experience independently managing Australian timber-import due diligence under Australia's illegal logging requirements preferably at a scale similar to ours.
• Experience assessing timber supply-chain evidence, working with overseas suppliers, resolving documentation issues and managing shipment-critical deadlines.
• Strong analytical and research skills, explicit written communication, and valuable record management, excellent attention to detail and document control skills.
Work arrangement
The role is office-based at Hurford Wholesale's Yatala / Stapylton site and requires attendance five days a week.
