General Tax is a boutique accounting firm with offices in Brisbane and Moreton Bay. We’re big on genuine client relationships, practical advice that actually makes sense, and keeping things as simple as we can.
We’re looking for an Intermediate to Senior Tax Accountant with at least 3 years’ Australian public practice experience who wants to become a long-term part of our team.
The role
There’s plenty of variety. You’ll work across individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs, manage your own workflow and deal directly with clients.
We don’t want our accountants hidden away just pumping out tax returns. We want you getting to know your clients, answering their questions, understanding what’s going on in their businesses and helping make tax and accounting a little less overwhelming.
You’ll be involved in
Financial statements and tax returns
BAS, IAS and FBT
SMSF compliance and administration
Managing your own workflow
Direct client contact and relationship building
Identifying issues and opportunities for clients
Who we’re looking for
You’ll have solid Australian public practice experience and be comfortable getting involved from day one.
You’ll ideally have
3+ years’ Australian public practice experience
Strong tax and financial statement preparation experience
Positive knowledge of Australian tax and compliance
Xero and accounting/tax software experience
Confidence dealing directly with clients
SMSF experience or exposure is a bonus
An accounting or finance degree
CPA/CA qualified or working towards it is preferred
Just as importantly, we want someone who’s friendly, approachable, takes ownership of their work and genuinely enjoys helping clients. We take our work seriously, but we’re definitely not an overly corporate workplace.
