About the role

We are seeking an experienced, organised and proactive Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy specialist surgical practice. This is a hands-on role combining practice management, administration, patient coordination, theatre scheduling, correspondence and accounts and the management of 2 reception staff and one typist.

The Practice

Manager will be responsible for ensuring the practice operates efficiently, professionally and smoothly on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will be the key point of coordination between the surgeon, patients, hospital, theatre staff, GPs, specialists and other external providers.

Key responsibilities
Take overall responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
Coordinate administrative activities of the practice
Ensure patients receive a skilled, effective and welcoming service
Manage practice workflows, systems and administrative processes
Identify and resolve operational issues promptly
Manage patient enquiries by telephone, email and in person




Coordinate new patient bookings, follow-up appointments and cancellations
Coordinate and book theatre lists and surgical procedures
Manage the day-to-day financial administration and the medicolegal side of the practice

About you
Medical experience in a surgical setting, preferrable Neurosurgery
Strong knowledge of Medicare, DVA, private health insurance, and medical billing, including ECLIPSE
Sound knowledge of Windows applications
Experience in CareRight preferred but not essential
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work unsupervised, autonomously and with other staff
Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and to prioritise
Sound administration skills including attention to detail and accuracy
Well-developed skills associated with working in a robust team environment
Discretion and confidentiality in all aspects of work
