Beacon Legal is partnering with a leading financial services group to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to its established in-house legal team.
This is an excellent prospect for a corporate/M&A; lawyer looking to move in-house without stepping away from high-quality transactional work.
The business is highly acquisitive, completing a significant volume of transactions each year. Around 80% of the role will focus on corporate transactions, giving you genuine ownership of deals from start to finish.
The role
You will work closely with senior executives, boards and business stakeholders across:
Mergers, acquisitions, divestments and corporate restructures
Drafting and negotiating SPAs, shareholders agreements, term sheets and other transaction documents
Managing transactions through due diligence, negotiation, signing and completion
Capital raisings and strategic corporate projects
Corporate governance and regulatory matters
Commercial contracts, including technology,
supplier and outsourcing agreements
This is a hands-on role where you will be trusted to independently lead transactions and provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
About you
You will ideally have
6+ years' PQE
Robust corporate/M&A; experience gained within a leading law firm
Experience independently managing corporate transactions
Exposure to the financial services sector
Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
A commercial, practical and detail-oriented approach
Previous in-house experience is welcomed but not essential. This could be an excellent first move in-house for a corporate Senior Associate who enjoys deal work and wants greater ownership of transactions within a quick-paced, acquisitive business.
The role is preferably based in Brisbane, although robust candidates in Sydney or Melbourne will also be considered.
