Company Description Stuart Macfarlane Optometrist is an independently owned practice established in 1984 and located in Logan City, Brisbane. The practice offers comprehensive eye care services through three consultation lanes equipped with contemporary diagnostic technology. Its therapeutically endorsed optometrists provide a wide range of clinical services, including diagnosis and management of eye conditions.

The practice carries an extensive selection of eyewear, from designer frames to budget-friendly options, catering to diverse patient needs and preferences. Team members join a community-focused environment that values quality care and personal service.

Role Description The Optical Assistant role is a casual, Saturday morning position based in Logan Central, QLD. Day-to-day responsibilities include welcoming patients, managing appointments, answering phone and in-person inquiries, and supporting smooth patient flow through the practice.

The Optical

Assistant helps patients with frame selection, fitting and adjusting eyewear, and explaining lens options and coatings in clear, accessible language. The role also involves basic administrative tasks such as processing payments, handling health fund claims, maintaining accurate records,



and keeping display areas and equipment clean and organized.

The Optical

Assistant works closely with optometrists and other team members to support high-quality clinical care and positive patient experiences.

Qualifications
Strong Interpersonal Skills and a focus on Customer Satisfaction, with the ability to build rapport and create a welcoming environment.
Explicit and skilled Communication skills, including the ability to explain optical products and services to patients in understandable terms.
Customer Service experience, ideally in a healthcare, retail, or optical setting, with a commitment to courteous and responsive patient care.
Basic understanding of Optometry and optical products, or a willingness to learn about eye examinations, lenses, and frames.
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling appointments, payments, and patient information.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and adapt to changing patient and practice needs.
Previous experience as an Optical Assistant or in an optometry practice is an advantage but not essential; on-the-job training will be provided. This position would also suit an optometry undergraduate.
