About the role
We're looking for an experienced fishing fleet and maintenance manager to take ownership of our national fishing fleet — from day-to-day maintenance and safety compliance through to project management, planning and delivering major refit and capital works projects, managing budgets, and reporting to the Managing Director on fleet performance. You'll be the key point of contact between TSF, our shipyards, fishing contractors, contractors, surveyors and the fishing divisions that depend on the fleet.
Key responsibilities
Fleet maintenance and compliance — oversee maintenance, dockings and repairs across the fleet, ensuring all vessels remain in survey and meet marine safety and WHS standards.
Project management — plan and deliver refits, dry-dockings and capital works projects on schedule, managing skippers and crew, contractors, shipyards and risk.
Budgeting and cost control — prepare and manage vessel maintenance and capex budgets, track spend against budget, and report variances.
Reporting — provide regular reporting to the Managing Director on fleet condition, project progress, budget performance and compliance status.
Stakeholder and relationship management — build solid working relationships with shipyards, skippers and crew, contractors,
marine surveyors (AMSA), insurers, Fishing Division Heads, Corporate Services, and vessel crews.
Leadership — provide strategic advice to the management team and promote a culture of safety, professionalism and teamwork.
About you
Extensive experience running, operating and maintaining commercial fishing or other commercial marine vessels.
MED 2 Ticket and Master 24 Ticket (or equivalent).
A proven track record managing projects, budgets and delivering maintenance or capital works projects.
Solid reporting, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Comfortable with hands-on inspection work as well as office-based planning, budgeting and reporting.
Willingness to travel regularly to fleet ports across Australia.
Extensive computer skills, including maintaining safety management systems.
