Cyber Security Advisor | 12-Month Contract | $900–$1,100/day ex. super | Sydney

A well-known Sydney government organisation is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Advisor to join on a 12-month contract. This is a senior, hands-on role providing security guidance across the organisation's technology programs.

The role:
Provide risk-based cyber security advice, assessments and assurance across technology projects, systems and services
Review current products, services, applications and infrastructure solutions, recommending fit-for-purpose controls
Advise project and technology teams on secure design and implementation
Support cyber security governance — policies, standards and procedures
Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives

What you'll bring:




Robust working knowledge of the ASD Essential Eight (and familiarity with ISO 27001/27002/27005, NIST, ISM)
Hands-on experience securing Microsoft Azure / Entra ID environments, including network security
Solid background in cyber security advisory, risk assessment, assurance or governance
Experience reviewing applications, systems and infrastructure from a security lens
CISSP, CISA or CISM highly regarded; OT security knowledge a plus
