Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical

At PGH Bricks, part of CSR, we're looking for a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical to lead our mechanical maintenance team at our Oxley manufacturing site. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for supervising trades, coordinating maintenance activities, driving equipment reliability and helping deliver operational excellence across a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
About the Role
As the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor (Monday – Friday), you'll lead a team of Mechanical Fitters, apprentices and contractors, ensuring maintenance activities are planned, executed safely and completed to a high standard.
You'll be actively involved in day-to-day maintenance operations, shutdown coordination, fault finding, contractor management and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a visible leadership role where success comes from building strong relationships on the floor and working closely with Production, Planning and Site Leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Mechanical Fitters and apprentices.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities, labour allocation and team scheduling.
- Support and continually improve planned and preventative maintenance programs.
- Plan and execute shutdowns, outages and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment issues.
- Drive improvements in equipment reliability, asset performance and OEE.
- Supervise contractors and ensure all works are completed safely and compliantly.
- Monitor maintenance costs and support capital and improvement projects.
- Manage purchasing requirements, parts availability and maintenance resources.
- Promote a robust safety culture and ensure compliance with WHSE standards.
- Support Lean, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Utilise SAP and CMMS systems for maintenance planning, reporting and asset management.
About You
To be successful, you'll bring a strong mechanical background combined with proven leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Essential Requirements
- Mechanical Fitter trade qualification - essential
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, processing or industrial environments.
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities within a 24/7 operation.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability and build engagement.
- Strong commitment to safety, risk management and compliance.
- Experience planning and coordinating maintenance schedules and shutdowns.
- Exposure to CMMS systems, ideally SAP.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
Highly Regarded
- Experience with reliability-centred maintenance and condition monitoring.
- Exposure to rotating equipment and heavy industrial plant.
- Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement experience.
- Permit to Work,
Working at Heights and Confined Space competencies.
- Experience managing contractors and maintenance budgets.
