About the role:
The Manager, Regulated Industries is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and support to a team of compliance officers and ensuring the effective delivery of regulatory functions across the Health Regulator. The Manager will use their knowledge and experience to support, coordinate and administer the team's regulatory functions and monitor and enforce compliance in accordance with the relevant legislation in regulatory areas which include industrial radiation, pest control and human tissue.
Reporting to the Director, Health Protection Regulation, the manager will work in a small and busy team that provides, advice to senior executives in the Department and the Minister for Health on various regulatory, investigatory, compliance and enforcement issues and administer legislation and regulations across the Health Regulator.

About you:
Can you demonstrate the following?
- Coordinate, guide and conduct desktop and onsite assessments and investigations of regulated entities, preparing reports, advice, and correspondence as required and taking essential regulatory and enforcement action when non-compliance is identified.
- Extensive experience in change management and providing positive and constructive leadership during and following change management periods.
- Develops regulatory and policy frameworks within area of expertise or responsibility based on defined organisational priorities.
- Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Draft and develop material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and deliver compliance, investigation, enforcement and evaluation strategies to address specific regulatory issues.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
- Current Victorian driver's licence
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations
- Additional tertiary qualification in a relevant field (regulation, law, science, health and public health; or other relevant science qualifications) would be highly regarded.
- Additional Requirements:
- The role may include periods of out-of-business hours work (weeknights and weekends) and travel to regional and remote areas.
- The role may also include periods of stand-by duty (out-of-business hours) on a rotating roster.
- Demonstrated experience in sound leadership, people management, coordinating and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in regulatory and public policy work as well as knowledge of relevant government legislation.
- Knowledge and experience in government would be desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
