Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 + superannuation
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Supervisor to join our team at our Ampol service station in the Northern Territory.
The Retail Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of the retail store, supporting and coordinating staff, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring that store procedures, safety requirements and operational standards are consistently followed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Supervising the day-to-day operations of the retail store and service station;
- Supervising, supporting and coordinating retail staff during rostered shifts;
- Assisting with staff rostering and allocation of daily duties;
- Monitoring staff performance and ensuring appropriate customer service standards are maintained;
- Providing guidance and on-the-job training to recent and existing staff;
- Ensuring customers receive prompt, professional and courteous service;
- Handling customer enquiries, complaints and service issues where required;
- Supervising point-of-sale operations, cash handling and end-of-shift reconciliation procedures;
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering, receiving, checking and replenishing stock;
- Ensuring products are correctly displayed, priced and rotated;
- Monitoring stock losses, wastage and discrepancies and reporting issues to management;
- Assisting with stocktakes and inventory control;
- Ensuring the store, forecourt and customer areas are maintained in a clean, safe and presentable condition;
- Ensuring staff comply with workplace health and safety requirements and applicable store procedures;
- Monitoring compliance with relevant requirements concerning the sale of restricted products;
- Assisting management with the implementation of store promotions, merchandising and operational procedures;
- Responding appropriately to operational issues arising during shifts and escalating significant matters to management; and
- Providing regular operational updates to the Retail Manager/business management.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Relevant qualification in retail, business, management or a related field and/or relevant industry experience;
- At least 1 year of relevant retail supervisory experience;
- Previous experience in a service station, convenience store, supermarket or similar high-volume retail environment is highly regarded;
- Demonstrated experience supervising and coordinating staff;
- Sound knowledge of retail operations, stock control, cash handling and customer service;
- Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and supervise staff in a busy retail environment; and
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays where required.
