The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) is looking for a practical, reliable and motivated Maintenance & Marina Hand to join our Operations team.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. You'll work across our marina, clubhouse, grounds and fleet of Club vessels, while also supporting some of Australia's biggest sailing events.
If you're someone who enjoys fixing things, working around boats and being part of a busy operational setting, this could be the role for you.
What you'll be doing:
No two days are necessarily the same. Your role will include:
Carrying out general maintenance and repairs across the Club's marina, facilities, grounds and assets.
Performing routine maintenance and upkeep of Club vessels.
Working with the Operations team to deliver the Club's maintenance program and keep jobs on schedule.
Preparing and maintaining race management equipment for regattas and major sailing events.
Driving Club tenders and providing on-water support.
Supporting marina operations and ensuring Club vessels and equipment are safe and ready for use.
Assisting with the installation and removal of Yacht Tracker systems on competitor yachts during ocean racing events.
Helping to ensure the safety of members, volunteers and staff during on-water operations.
Pitching in with other operational and maintenance tasks as required.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable and takes pride in their work.
You don't necessarily need to have worked in a yacht club before. We're interested in people with strong practical skills who are comfortable working around boats, machinery, tools and facilities.
Ideally, you'll have:
At least 2 years' experience in a similar maintenance or operational role.
A trade qualification or strong relevant industry experience.
A current NSW General Boat Licence.
Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
Experience working independently and managing day-to-day tasks.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing jobs.
Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with members, guests and staff.
Experience supervising staff or coordinating daily tasks would be an advantage.
Why work with us?
This isn't your typical maintenance job.
You'll be working in a unique waterfront environment, surrounded by boats and sailing, with the opportunity to support major sailing events and gain experience across marina operations, vessel maintenance and facilities management.
You’ll be part of a close-knit Operations team where being willing to get stuck in and have a go is valued.
If you’re practical, switched-on and enjoy working around boats, we’d love to hear from you.
