Auto Electricians – Mobile Plant, Heavy Equipment & Ag Machinery
Auto Electricians wanted for mobile plant, heavy equipment and agricultural machinery in regional NSW. Workshop and field roles across mining and agriculture.
About us
Biro Strategy works with regional businesses across Australia to bridge skill gaps and build long-term workforces. We are partnering with mining operations and large-scale agricultural producers in regional NSW that need experienced auto electricians to keep their fleets running. Standard terms and conditions follow industry standards, with competitive pay rates.
The chance
Modern mobile equipment runs on electronics. When a loader, haul truck, tractor or harvester goes down with an electrical fault, work stops, which is why these operations need auto electricians who can diagnose fast and fix it right the first time.
Roles include mine site and workshop positions maintaining heavy mobile plant, and workshop and field positions maintaining tractors, harvesters, trucks and farm equipment. We welcome qualified auto electricians from mining, earthmoving, heavy transport, bus and coach, and agricultural backgrounds, including tradespeople who have not worked in mining before.
Key responsibilities: Auto Electrician
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults on heavy mobile plant, trucks, tractors, harvesters and light vehicles
- Use diagnostic software, laptops and scan tools to fault find engine management, CAN bus and machine control systems
- Install, repair and modify wiring harnesses, lighting, cameras, sensors, two-way radios, IVMS and other accessories, including mine-spec fit-outs
- Service and repair starting and charging systems, batteries and vehicle air-conditioning
- Support GPS guidance, auto-steer and precision agriculture systems on farm machinery
- Respond to breakdowns in the workshop and in the field
- Carry out scheduled maintenance and keep accurate service and repair records
- Follow site safety systems, including isolations, permits and pre-start checks
About you
- Certification and experience: a trade qualification as an Automotive Electrician (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent) with solid experience on heavy vehicles, mobile plant, mining equipment or agricultural machinery. Experience on Caterpillar, Komatsu, Sandvik, Epiroc, John Deere, Case IH or New Holland equipment is highly regarded.
- Technical skills: strong diagnostics and fault finding across 12V and 24V systems, electronic control modules and CAN bus networks; able to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Soft skills: clear communication, good time management, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.
- Adaptability and learning: keen to learn new equipment and technology, and always looking for ways to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Licences and certifications: a current driver's licence. An ARC automotive refrigerant handling licence, mining inductions, working at heights and first aid are an advantage.
What is offered
