The IT Manager (SURE) plays a critical role in enabling researchers, governments and other organisations to securely access and use sensitive health and human services data to generate evidence that informs better decisions. By ensuring the SURE platform remains secure, reliable and responsive to customer needs, this role helps maintain trust with data custodians and research partners while supporting impactful research that improves outcomes for communities across Australia.
What you'll do
Working as part of our Information Technology team and reporting to the Director, IT, you'll lead the secure, reliable and customer-focused operation of the SURE platform, ensuring exceptional service delivery while driving continuous improvement, security, compliance and stakeholder engagement.
You’ll:
- Safeguard information assets and maintain SURE’s security and compliance posture, including its ISO 27001:2022 certification
- Provide expert technical advice to support strategic decision-making, innovation and service improvement.
- Lead and deliver IT projects including upgrade, maintenance and innovation projects.
- Manage key technology vendors, service providers and commercial partnerships that support the platform.
- Build strong relationships with researchers, client institutions and data custodians to understand needs and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead the delivery of responsive, customer-focused support services for SURE users.
- Oversee the performance, reliability and ongoing enhancement of the SURE technology environment.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team committed to service excellence and continuous improvement.
You'll bring
We're looking for someone who brings a strong blend of strategic IT leadership and hands‑on technical expertise,
with experience delivering technology solutions, managing service providers, maintaining secure and compliant environments and building trusted relationships with stakeholders. You'll be a proactive and customer‑focused professional with excellent communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while driving continuous improvement.
You’ll have:
- Experience leading IT strategy, operations and technology projects.
- Strong technical expertise across Microsoft, cloud and virtualisation environments.
- Experience managing information security, cyber risk and compliance obligations.
- Proven capability managing IT vendors, contracts and service delivery.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
