Territory Sales Representative / Business Development Manager – Industrial Equipment

Sydney, NSW | Field-Based

$90,000 Base + Commission

Build relationships. Develop a territory. Grow with an established Australian industrial equipment business.

Abaco Machines Australia is looking for an experienced Territory Sales Representative / Business Development Manager to manage and grow our customer base across Sydney and NSW.

This is a hands‑on, field‑based sales role for someone who enjoys getting out in front of customers, understanding how their businesses operate and identifying equipment solutions that genuinely improve the way they work.

You’ll work with both existing Abaco customers and new prospects , helping businesses across the stone, glass, construction, manufacturing, warehousing and broader industrial sectors with their material‑handling requirements.

We’re looking for someone who can do more than maintain accounts.

You should be comfortable developing new business, managing your own territory, following opportunities through from first contact to close, and building long‑term customer relationships .

About Abaco Machines Australia

Abaco Machines Australia supplies material‑handling equipment for professional and industrial applications, including lifting equipment, clamps, vacuum lifters, cranes, slab handling and storage systems and other specialised equipment.

With more than 30 years in the industry, Abaco supplies customers across Australia and internationally and continues to invest in its product range, digital systems and customer experience.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced salesperson who can help strengthen existing relationships while actively expanding our presence in the market.

The Role

You will take ownership of a portfolio and territory, spending a significant amount of your time on the road meeting customers and developing opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Manage, maintain and grow relationships with existing customers
- Regularly visit customers throughout your territory
- Identify and develop new business opportunities
- Prospect and approach potential customers
- Follow up inbound enquiries and marketing‑generated leads

- Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate equipment
- Conduct product discussions, presentations and demonstrations
- Prepare and follow up quotations
- Negotiate and close sales
- Identify opportunities to cross‑sell and introduce other Abaco products
- Re‑engage dormant and previous customers
- Develop strong relationships with business owners, managers, purchasing teams, tradespeople and equipment operators
- Maintain accurate opportunities, activities, notes and follow‑ups within our CRM
- Work closely with management, internal sales, warehouse and technical teams
- Monitor competitor activity and provide feedback from the market
- Represent Abaco professionally at customer sites, industry events and trade shows where required

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with approximately 3–4+ years of proven B2B sales experience , ideally within an industrial, machinery or technical product environment.

Experience in any of the following would be particularly relevant:

- Cranes, hoists or lifting equipment
- Warehouse equipment
- Manufacturing equipment
- Stone or glass industry equipment
- Building products
- Industrial tools or equipment
- Other technical B2B products

Direct material‑handling experience is highly regarded but not essential .

If you are a strong industrial salesperson with the ability and curiosity to learn technical products, we would still like to hear from you.

The Person We're Looking For

You are someone who:

- Enjoys being in front of customers rather than sitting behind a desk all day
- Has demonstrated experience winning new B2B customers
- Can manage and grow existing accounts
- Is confident prospecting and opening conversations with new businesses
- Takes ownership of their territory and sales pipeline
- Follows quotations and opportunities consistently
- Understands consultative and solution‑based selling
- Can learn technical products and specifications

- Has solid commercial judgement and doesn't rely solely on discounting to make a sale
- Is organised, reliable and disciplined with follow‑up
- Can communicate comfortably with everyone from business owners and purchasing managers to tradespeople and equipment operators
- Works well independently while remaining accountable to the wider team

Strong computer skills are essential.

This is an important part of the role. You must be comfortable working with:

- CRM systems
- Microsoft Outlook and professional email communication
- Excel and spreadsheets
- Microsoft Office
- Digital quotations and documents
- Online research
- Calendars and territory planning
- Laptops, smartphones and general business software

Experience with Salesforce or another major CRM platform would be highly regarded.

We are looking for someone who can manage their customer relationships and maintain an accurate digital sales pipeline.

What Success Looks Like

A successful salesperson at Abaco won't simply wait for enquiries to arrive.

You'll be someone who can:

Protect existing accounts.

Grow those relationships.

Find new opportunities.

Win new customers.

Follow through.

You will notice opportunities when visiting customer sites, ask the right questions and understand where Abaco's equipment can help solve a problem.

What We Offer

- Commission structure
- Established Australian business and recognised industry brand
- Existing customer base alongside significant new‑business opportunity
- Broad range of specialised industrial products
- Support from internal sales, warehouse, technical and management teams
- Opportunity to take genuine ownership of a sales territory
- Long‑term career opportunity as the business continues to grow

- Proven field / territory sales experience
- Strong account‑management ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong computer and CRM skills
