We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Kindergarten Teacher to join our Early Learning team at Butterfield House for the 2027 school year. This opportunity would suit an Early Childhood Teacher who is passionate about creating high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences, building strong partnerships with children and families, and supporting each child to learn, grow and thrive.

Working collaboratively with our Early Learning team, you will create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children are encouraged to explore, inquire, develop independence and build confidence through purposeful, play-based learning.

About the role

Position: 3-year-old Kindergarten Teacher

Employment Type: Part Time, Fixed Term

Period of Employment: 21 January 2027 to 10 December 2027

FTE/Time Fraction: 0.5 FTE (19 hours per week)

Location: Butterfield House

As Kindergarten Teacher, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of a high-quality Early Childhood Education program, while working collaboratively as part of a supportive and professional team. You will use your knowledge of child development, contemporary Early Childhood Education practice and individual children’s strengths, needs and interests to develop an innovative and responsive learning program. A key focus of the role is developing strong partnerships with families and working collaboratively with colleagues, specialist services and the broader community to support each child’s learning, development and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include

- Planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating developmentally appropriate Early Childhood Education programs.
- Providing high-quality, inclusive learning experiences informed by observations of children’s development, responses, needs and interests.
- Applying the Early Years Learning and Development Framework and National Quality Framework to teaching practice and program development.
- Creating an engaging, safe and inclusive environment that supports purposeful, play-based learning.
- Building positive and respectful relationships with children and developing genuine partnerships with families.
- Assessing and responding to the developmental needs of children and working collaboratively with families, colleagues and relevant specialist services where required.
- Providing leadership within the Kindergarten program while working collaboratively as part of the Early Learning team.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation and contributing to quality improvement processes, including the Quality Improvement Plan.
- Reflecting upon and continuously evaluating professional practice and the effectiveness of the Kindergarten program.
- Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism in all interactions with children, families, colleagues and the broader community.




- Maintaining contemporary professional knowledge through ongoing learning and career development.
- Actively supporting and upholding the Christian ethos, values and mission of Christian College Geelong.
- Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to child safety, wellbeing and inclusion.

Selection Criteria

Please address the following selection criteria in your cover letter, providing relevant examples from your experience and professional practice:

- Qualifications and professional registration: An ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Education qualification and current VIT registration, together with current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma training.
- Early Childhood knowledge and practice: Demonstrated understanding of early childhood development, contemporary educational theory and best practice, including the Early Years Learning and Development Framework and National Quality Framework.
- Program planning and delivery: Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, document, implement and evaluate high-quality, inclusive and developmentally appropriate programs that respond to children’s individual strengths, interests, needs and development.
- Relationships with children and families: Demonstrated ability to establish positive, respectful relationships with children and develop genuine partnerships with families, including encouraging family participation and contribution to their child’s Kindergarten experience.
- Collaboration and communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, families, specialist services and the wider community.
- Leadership, organisation and professional practice: Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and manage priorities, work with initiative and appropriate independence, contribute positively to a team environment and provide leadership within an Early Childhood setting.
- Quality and continuous improvement: Demonstrated understanding of quality frameworks and continuous improvement processes, together with a reflective approach to professional practice and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- Inclusive and professional practice: Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, maintain appropriate confidentiality and create inclusive learning environments that recognise and respond to the individual needs of children.
- Christian ethos and child safety: Demonstrated ability and willingness to work within the vision, mission, values and Christian ethos of Christian College Geelong, together with a strong commitment to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children.




- Experience or professional learning in nature pedagogy would be highly regarded.
