Eclipse Advisory is a well-established, multi-disciplinary accounting and financial advisory practice based in Erina, NSW.

We are seeking an experienced Accountant – Tax, SMSF, Operations & Financial Planning to join our Australian-based team.

This is a broad and technically challenging role suited to an experienced public practice accountant who is comfortable managing more complex client matters, reviewing work, coordinating workflow and working across taxation, business services, SMSFs and financial planning.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal and Client Manager and will play an important role in progressing client work from initial preparation through to review, lodgement and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review complex financial statements and Income Tax Returns for individuals, companies, trusts and SMSFs.

- Manage taxation matters involving multiple entities, investment structures, trusts and privately owned businesses.

- Review tax reconciliations, distributions, Division 7A matters, capital gains tax calculations and other year-end taxation adjustments.

- Assist with year-end tax planning and identify taxation issues requiring further review or advice.

- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other taxation compliance obligations.

- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between accounting records, ATO records and lodged taxation documents.

- Manage more complex client accounting matters and liaise directly with clients to resolve technical and information queries.

- Undertake SMSF accounting, year-end compliance and reporting using Class.

- Review SMSF transactions including contributions, pensions, benefit payments, investment activity and member balances.

- Identify SMSF compliance issues requiring escalation or further technical review.

- Coordinate information and queries with SMSF auditors and assist in resolving audit matters.

- Manage ATO Online services for agents, lodgements, accounts, correspondence and client taxation matters.

- Review accounting and taxation work prepared by offshore team members prior to finalisation.

- Allocate and coordinate workflow with Philippines-based accounting and administration team members.

- Provide technical guidance, clarification and feedback to offshore team members where required.

- Monitor jobs, lodgement deadlines,



client information requests and outstanding matters to ensure work progresses efficiently.

- Perform quality-control reviews to ensure accounting records, workpapers, tax returns and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.

- Maintain and reconcile accounting information across Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Class.

- Manage data migration, opening balances, historical reconciliations and corrections between accounting systems where required.

- Assist with the implementation of financial planning strategies, including superannuation, pensions, investment structures and client administration.

- Prepare financial information, projections and supporting calculations for financial planning advice.

- Assist with implementation and ongoing administration of advice provided to clients.

- Work closely with the Principal on complex taxation, SMSF, business and financial planning matters.

- Identify opportunities to improve internal systems, workflow, quality control and practice efficiency.

- Take ownership of allocated client jobs and manage them through to completion.

About You

We are looking for an experienced accountant who is confident working beyond basic compliance work.

You will ideally have

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

- A minimum of approximately 5 years' experience within an Australian public practice, taxation or business advisory firm.

- Strong experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and Australian taxation returns.

- Experience working with companies, trusts, individuals and SMSFs.

- Sound knowledge of Australian taxation, GST, CGT, trust distributions and general business taxation matters.

- Practical experience with year-end taxation adjustments and reconciliations.

- Robust SMSF accounting and compliance experience.

- Good working knowledge of Xero/XPM, MYOB, QuickBooks, FYI and Class.

- Strong experience using ATO Online services for agents.





- The ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting and taxation issues independently.

- Experience reviewing the work of other accountants or offshore team members.

- Previous experience working with an offshore accounting team, particularly in the Philippines, would be highly regarded.

- Strong organisational and workflow management skills.

- The ability to manage multiple client jobs and competing deadlines.

- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to technical accuracy.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Confidence communicating directly with clients regarding accounting and taxation matters.

- The ability to recognise issues that require escalation or specialist advice.

- An interest in developing broader experience across SMSFs and financial planning.

- A practical, commercially minded and solutions-focused approach.
