As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Support Worker will welcome clients with genuine respect, compassion and care, providing accommodation support for women staying in our properties, including Temporary, Crisis and/or temporary accommodation. Working within a trauma informed, person centered framework, the role supports a best practice service delivery response to gendered violence.

Key responsibilities

- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the Ashfield site
- Support residents with immediate needs
- Work alongside the case management team to identify, action and respond to clients

About you

- Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services
- Understanding of Community Services
- Experience working according to the principals of person centered, trauma informed practice
- Proven capacity to manage qualified boundaries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skillsSound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and software operating systems
- Hold a current unrestricted NSW Drivers licence
- Mandatory Compliance Checks including Working With Children's Check and National Police Check
- Desirable: Recognised first aid qualification (such as certificate from the St John Ambulance or similar body) or capacity to acquire one prior to appointment to the role

Women's Community Shelters (WCS) was established in 2013 to build community capacity and response to women's homelessness, including domestic and family violence. WCS works with communities to establish new shelters which provide short term emergency accommodation and support in a safe environment. Under a tripartite model, WCS brings together government, community and philanthropy to fund the establishment and ongoing operation of shelters and other innovative housing solutions. As a Tier 3 Community Housing provider, WCS relies on traditional and innovative housing solutions to achieve positive individual outcomes for women with and without children.
