The Head of Technology will be responsible for leading ElecSome's complete technology and engineering function, from R&D; and process development through pilot-plant design, equipment procurement, construction, commissioning, optimisation and commercial scale-up. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring capability across chemistry, process engineering, mechanical engineering, equipment design, plant construction and commercial technology implementation. The role will lead multidisciplinary teams and external engineering, fabrication, university and technology partners.
Key responsibilities
Own and lead ElecSome's technology roadmap from TRL development through commercialisation
Translate R&D; outcomes into practical, scalable and commercially viable industrial processes
Set technology priorities, development milestones, technical KPIs and scale-up plans
Lead the development of pilot and demonstration plants from concept through engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning
Take ownership of plant design including process flow diagrams, P&IDs;, equipment specifications, layouts, material balances and mass/energy balances
Provide senior technical leadership across chemical, hydrometallurgical and electrochemical processes relevant to PV material recovery
Lead process and engineering design for prototype, pilot and commercial systems
Lead technical commissioning and plant proving activities
Lead technical relationships with universities, research organisations, government agencies, customers and strategic technology partners
Ensure technology development and plant implementation meet applicable Australian safety, environmental and engineering requirements
About you
15+ years of relevant experience in process engineering, chemical engineering, materials processing, recycling, resource recovery, mineral processing or a comparable industrial technology environment
Demonstrated experience taking technology from R&D; or laboratory stage through pilot plant development and into industrial or commercial operation
Proven experience in designing, building, commissioning and operating pilot or processing plants
Strong understanding of chemical/process engineering and industrial equipment
Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams
Solid knowledge of process design, PFDs, P&IDs;, mass and energy balances, equipment specification and scale-up
Demonstrated experience working with contractors, fabricators, suppliers and engineering consultants
Strong understanding of commissioning, troubleshooting, optimisation and plant performance
Relevant tertiary qualification in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline
Highly desirable: Direct experience in solar PV recycling, e-waste recycling, mineral processing, precious-metal recovery or critical-mineral recovery
